Located in White County near the Van Buren County line, this one lane Pratt truss bridge is one of the very few surviving on local roads in the state of Tennessee. Unfortunately, the state has been extremely aggressive at removing the remaining old trusses, and I was lucky to find this bridge that I first discovered by accident in 1997 was still standing. Here, I will show you photos of this soon-to-be-lost treasure over the eerily still waters of the Caney Fork River. All photos taken May 29, 2006.
Looking west.
In the middle of the bridge looking east. The bridge has not seen much maintenance in years. Old Tennessee bridges were more likely to use concrete decks.
Looking east. Note the 5 ton weight limit.
Bridge detail in view of the river.
Looking upstream.
Looking downstream on what appears to be water moccassin wonderland.
