Elizabethton Bridges (Carter County)

Photos here include two historic bridges, both right next to each other and both in downtown Elizabethton. The first two photos are of a three-spanned restored concrete arch bridge and the second is of the Elizabethton Covered Bridge right upstream. All photos taken January 14, 2007.

Elizabethton Bridge looking northwest. Here is an angled side view of the arch with full detail. It is now gleaming white as if it were brand new.
Elizabethton Bridge looking north. Looking from the town intake and spillway, you see a full view of the bridge. Note how rocky and shallow the river is here, suggesting frequent flooding.
East portal of the Elizabethton Covered Bridge, which was recently closed to pedestrians only. Here is the east portal of the now permanently closed bridge. Note the final weight limit.
Side view of the covered bridge. Here is a side view of the covered bridge. This was one of my worst photos with the water fountain and tree right in the view.
