Clear Fork Cumberland River Bridge on TN 52

This bridge, opened in 2003 or 2004, spans the Clear Fork Cumberland River on TN 52. It spans a narrow canyon where TN 52 previously took a more winding route. The old route was still intact during that visit, but was barracaded off. Most likely the old bridge shown below in the one photo has since been removed. All photos below taken March 12, 2005.

Clear Fork Cumberland River Bridge The new TN 52 bridge soars several stories high over the narrow gorge. Photo taken March 12, 2005.
Side view of Clear Fork bridge pier. This side view relative to the parking area shows how ridiculously high these single piers are. I am hoping those segments are just a design feature and not actually expansion joints.
Old TN 52 bridge. Here is the Old TN 52 bridge, which at the time of the photo was blocked only by this dirtpile, but was otherwise intact. I am guessing this new bridge had just opened only a month or two before I arrived for this pic.
