TN 318

TN 318 forms a short and extremely winding connector from U.S. 11/41/64/72 to TN 148. The sole reason the route exists is because left turns from and right turns to TN 148 are not possible due to the acute angle that TN 148 intersects with U.S. 41. The reason for this is that TN 148 intersects on the edge of the brow of Lookout Mountain. As a result, TN 318 fills that void and provides access to points west of Chattanooga and provides access to TN 148 from points west. Because TN 318 is merely a connector, the route is only partially signed. All photos taken May 1, 2004.

First reassurance shield northbound.

While not signed along U.S. 11/41/64/72, a reassurance shield greets you after turning onto TN 318. Note the wildflowers and wet road. It had just quit raining prior to me taking these pics.

Mile 0 at the northern end.

Mile zero is just before the first reassurance shield.

This dual signage for TN 148, locally known as Scenic Highway, greets you at the end of TN 318.

Looking back north is the first reassurance shield. TN 318 is signed partially on southbound TN 148 but not northbound.
