Secondary State Route 456

Until 2002, TN 456 was part of TN 297. This route was created when TN 297 was relocated along part of U.S. 27 and part of TN 63. TN 456 was most likely created this way as sort of a business route, but because TN 63 does not extend west of U.S. 27, the route became a business route for TN 297 instead, but was renumbered in lieu of a banner. Considering that it is basically a business route, it is actually not very scenic though much of the nearby area is quite scenic.

	U.S. 27 northbound at TN 297 approaching TN 456. Previously, TN 297 would have had a two-directional arrow pointing traffic straight as well and the TN 456 sign would not have existed. This is actually one of my favorite assemblies.
	U.S. 27 changes direction here in Oneida, so if you're not paying attention you will end up on the wrong road.
	Looking southbound (actually east) at the first reassurance shield. The TN 456 signs had been TN 297 signs only a year or two before I took these pics.
	Looking south on U.S. 27 also denotes the directional change, though U.S. 27 traffic is continous southbound.

	This directional assembly follows on TN 63 westbound. Old TN 63 crosses TN 456 just to the north, but no signage is posted on that alignment related to either route. Photo taken March 12, 2005.
