TN 92

TN 92 is a 35 mile-long primary route that crosses not one but two major TVA reservoirs. The highway begins to the south at U.S. 411 near Newport extending north across a large truss bridge over Douglas Lake. It then cuts through the historic revolutionary war-era town of Dandridge overlapping with U.S. 25W/70 before intersecting with I-40.

North of Dandridge the route crosses U.S. 11E in Jefferson City and crosses over Cherokee Dam on Cherokee Lake before finally ending at U.S. 11W in Rutledge. While I have not had the chance to cover this entire route, I will be featuring pictures of the beautiful truss bridge south of Dandridge.

All photos below taken January 14, 2007.

Southern approach to the bridge. This photo is looking north at the southern portal to the bridge.
Full view of the structure from the road level. Here is a full angled view of the structure from near the road level.
View of the bridge from the lakebed. Here is a view of the main truss structure from the lake bed, which is visible since the lake is down for the winter.
Side detail of northern approach. This photo shows detail of the south portal up to where it joins the truss structure.
Slightly blurry shot driving across the bridge. This photo is a somewhat blurry view driving north on the bridge. The bridge is very narrow, but appears to be very sturdy.
